Stirring the Pot: Easy Glazed Easter Ham

Honey, ginger and lime steal the show!

April 14, 2025

Hi everyone,

Easter is just around the corner, and today we’re spotlighting a centerpiece-worthy ham that could easily become your new holiday tradition. This honey-ginger glazed ham is as simple to make as it is stunning to serve—perfect for Easter or any special occasion.

The glaze is a bright and flavorful blend of honey, fresh lime zest, ginger, and a splash of vinegar, creating a sweet and tangy coating that caramelizes beautifully in the oven. The result is a juicy, tender ham with a glossy, golden finish that’s guaranteed to impress—plus, it makes incredible leftovers.

For a beautiful presentation, garnish with a few extra lime slices and a handful of fresh herbs tucked around the ham on your favorite spring platter. Pair it with spring classics like deviled eggs, roasted rainbow carrots, potato salad, or fresh greens tossed in a mustard vinaigrette.

INGREDIENTS

Serves 10 to 12

  • 1 (8-lb.) fully cooked bone-in spiral-cut ham

  • ¾ cup chicken stock

  • ½ cup honey

  • ¼ cup rice vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon lime zest, plus 1 tablespoon fresh juice

  • 1 (1-in.) piece fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced

  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper

  • Lime wedges and parsley stems for serving, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Place ham and stock in a shallow roasting pan. Loosely cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 1 hour, basting with the stock in the pan every 20 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile, stir together honey, vinegar, lime zest and juice, ginger, and crushed red pepper in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat; simmer, undisturbed, for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes. Pour through a fine-mesh strainer into a small bowl; discard solids.

  3. Increase oven temperature to 400°F. Remove foil from ham; discard foil. Brush honey glaze all over the ham (reserve the remaining glaze in the bowl). Return to oven. Bake, uncovered, until a thermometer inserted into the thickest portion of the meat registers 145°F, about 30 minutes, brushing with glaze every 10 minutes. Remove from oven; let rest for 10 to 20 minutes.

  4. Transfer ham to a serving platter. Serve with the remaining glaze in a bowl, and garnish with lime wedges and parsley stems, if desired.

Pro Tip

  • Basting is a technique in which you repeatedly spoon or brush butter, sauce or cooking liquid over meat or poultry during the cooking process to keep it moist. You can use a large spoon or a basting brush for this.
